One of just 1700 watches, this modern re-imagining of Seiko’s very first dive watch is truly stunning, with plenty of history to back it.

Debuting in the summer of 1965, the 6217-8000/1 (AKA: The 62MAS), was a simple but refined Skin Diver style watch. The SLA043 stays true in every aspect to the original design with all the modern bells and whistles one would come to expect. Most immediately noticeable is the colour scheme which is inspired by The Japanese Antarctic Expedition of 1966, where Seiko provided some 62MAS watches to be worn by the expedition’s participants.

Aesthetically, the dial steals the show. The shade of blue is perfectly saturated and full of depth. The seconds hand is the right shade of blue to add a pleasing contrast to the dial. Case condition is essentially mint, and the finishing is next to none; Light reflects brilliantly off of the finely brushed Ever Brilliant stainless steel. Beating away inside at a steady 28,800bph is the 8L35, 26J automatic movement, providing hacking, quickset date change and crown winding. 

This is a near perfect interpretation of the renowned 62MAS. This watch was purchased by the original owner in 2020 from an authorized dealer, and as such will come as a complete set.
