ROLEX DATEJUST 1601
The Rolex Datejust has had many iterations throughout its decade’s long inclusion in the Rolex arsenal of references. It is refined and robust, timeless and elegant, simple yet complicated; It was and, in many ways, still is the backbone of the Rolex brand.
The 1601 was the Datejust model circulating throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. This example dates to 1970 and presents itself in very nice condition. Starting with its shortcomings, the clasp has a small dent in the center, and the bottom left lug also has a small nick. Where it shines is quite literally everywhere else. Its case is in outstanding, presumably unpolished condition. All brushed and polished surfaces are well distinguished. The fluted bezel is pristine. It’s lume-free dial is also flawless and features a very practical and under the radar pie-pan aesthetic, separating the seconds track from the rest of the dial making the legibility even cleaner. The crown is operating as it should.
The reliable caliber 1570 was fully serviced at a Rolex AD in May 2022. The watch will be supplied on a period and reference correct 6251H Jubilee bracelet.
