PORSCHE DESIGN BY ETERNA 6625.41
Established in 1972, Porsche Design has created well executed, no frills automotive inspired watches through some very reputable names in the business, most notably, IWC. However throughout its tenure in the watch industry, Porsche Design has worked with many other manufacturers. On offer today is a watch from Porsche Design’s time spent with Eterna, which lasted from 1998 until 2014.
This reference is from the Late 1990’s – early 2000’s, an era where Eterna was focused on quality, fit and finish. Simply put, this results in a wonderful watch. Porsche Design certainly came through on an extremely legible dial layout, featuring a 30-minute, 1-minute (small seconds), and 12-hour sub-registers atop a textured matte black dial, surrounded by none other than a tachymeter scale. Regarding condition, nearly every aspect of the watch is pristine. The dial is untouched, free of any blemishes and very clearly sports wonderfully aged markers. The case is free of any major scratches and dents, and still shows its very distinct brushed finish. The original “PD” signed bracelet still has great structure and it too is in wonderful condition.
Housed within is the remarkable Valjoux/ETA 7750 self-winding chronograph movement. The chronograph function stops, starts, and resets promptly. Pushers are firm and crisp when pushed, and of course, the crown is original. Although unserviced, the watch is running at a wonderful ±5 seconds/day.
