LONGINES HERITAGE 1954 CHRONOGRAPH
Looking to the past for inspiration is something many brands have adapted over the years, and with the community embracing the vintage watch market, a design from the past with modern appointments is a way to the modern collectors heart. Longines has done so here with the Heritage 1954 chronograph.
The vintage appeal is highlighted with a simple black and steel aesthetic and an outer telemeter scale, which is used to calculate distance based on time. Traditionally, telemeter scales were printed on military chronographs. When the enemy’s artillery would sound, the wearer would start the chronograph. When the projectile would land and sound again, the chronograph would be stopped. The chronograph hand position would then tell the wearer approximately how far away the opposition may be. Vintage appeal in a modern package makes for quite a cool watch.
This example is in great overall condition, exhibiting just a handful of hairline scratches throughout the case. The instruction booklet, warranty card, hang-tag and original strap will be supplied with the watch, as well as a two-stitch cognac leather strap. Overall the movement is running very well, at ±1 second and a 264 amplitude.
