Omiwatari – A ridge appearing on the frozen waters of Lake Suwa during the winter months, connecting one shore of the lake to the other. This ridge is also known to be “where the Gods walk out over the ice”. Grand Seiko has always drawn inspiration from its native homeland of Japan, whether it be something as straightforward as the intricate texture of a flower petal, to a mystical envisioning such as the Omiwatari.
Suwa holds a place of significance among the brand, having been home to the Suwa production site that delivered many of Seiko’s iconic sport models and Grand Seiko references throughout their golden era in the 1970’s.
Moving onto the watch itself, it serves the significance from which it draws inspiration from, with a precisely reminiscent dial execution, a movement at the forefront of industry and, overall, it’s just a well appointed reference. The example on hand comes as a complete set, is pristine in condition and hails from 2022.
