GRAND SEIKO SBGN019

Released in celebration of 140 years since Seiko’s inception, the SBGN019 falls nothing short of flawless in nearly every aspect. Categorized under the Grand Seiko Sport Collection, the SBGN019 is just that; A sport watch.

Coming in at 40mm with a 20mm lug width, it hits the nail on the head for being in the ideal modern sport watch dimension range. A broad and defined handset, lumibrite filled steel dial markers, and an effortless sporty colour scheme are just some of the features that may be overlooked at first glance. The bezel insert is made of ceramic to further its durability and longevity, which also adds an extra sense of reassurance when the watch is put through its paces. 

Sports watch features aside, this wouldn’t be a Grand Seiko without a few details that add subtle refinement and elegance. Starting with the dial; In most instances it appears to be a glossy black finish, but when the watch is viewed in more exposed lighting conditions, it is then the dial comes alive. In typical Grand Seiko fashion, the dial reveals itself to be a wonderful copper tone, radial textured dial. Its an understated feature executed perfectly. The Zaratsu polishing on the case truly adds another dimension to the watch, reflecting light beautifully and allowing it to wear seamlessly on almost any wrist.

Inside the angular case is the ultra precise 9F86, that is accurate to a staggering ±10 seconds per year. On top of that feat, the watch also offers a  dual time zone GMT function, 200M of water resistance, screw down crown and of course, a date function.
