GRAND SEIKO 6146-8000

‘CROSSHAIR DIAL’

The Grand Seiko 61xx line was one of the mechanical marvels of the past. Renowned for its ‘Hi-Beat’, 36,000bph movement housed inside the sumptuous multi-angular Grammar of Design case, the 61GS was one of the more readily available Grand Seiko references in the late 1960’s. This example here however is the less common ‘crosshair dial’ variant. The distinguishing features of this dial are the smaller sculpted markers, shorter handset, and an outer seconds track that includes half seconds.

This example is in wonderful condition, having only minor hairline scratches that are quite common among vintage Grand Seiko references, due to their high-polish, zaratsu finishing. The case itself also displays prominent edges, showing little to no dullness whatsoever, leading us to believe this watch was not polished in the past or if so, was done impeccably well. Dial and handset are in fantastic condition, as is the caseback and coveted medallion.

This watch was serviced in November 2021 and running well.
