GRAND SEIKO 4520-8000

’45GS’

Of the many Grand Seiko references of the past, few are as coveted as the 45xx-8000. Sure, there is the 44GS, the Grand Seiko First, and a handful ultra-accurate VFA references, but looking at the scarcity of those said watches makes the 4520-8000 in particular an obvious choice when considering a vintage Grand Seiko acquisition. Firstly, it closely resembles the renowned 44GS, with its Grammar of Design case and time only dial. Next, inside is the 4520 hand-wound movement which is incredibly well constructed and stable, even for a true Hi-beat, 36,000bph movement. Lastly, at 36mm, it just exudes ultra-dress watch appeal that isn’t your standard “round watch, straight lug” design.

The example here is in exceptionally well preserved condition, with all of its brushed and polished surfaces still well defined, untouched dial, and a beautiful caseback medallion,

The movement was servived in 2021, and currently running at ±9 seconds per day and a 197 amplitude.
