SEIKO 6105-8119

‘CAPTAIN WILLARD’

For the Seiko enthusiasts out there and, for the most part, the general watch enthusiast alike, this truly is a watch that needs no introduction. However one will be made anyways.

This watch represents Seiko’s 3rd diver’s watch effort and has since become a pillar in the vintage Seiko world. The unique, asymmetric cushion style case is instantly recognizable, as is the very eye-catching second’s hand. Design cues aside, this watch cemented its status in the watch world and began its fandom among collectors when it appeared on the wrist of Martin Sheen’s character (Captain Willard) in the film “Apocalypse Now”. Fast forward to the modern day and this watch can simply be referred to as “Willard” or at times “The Apocalypse now”.

Despite the dimensions on paper, this reference wears incredibly well (see the final picture), and this particular example is very easy on the eyes. It’s dial; pristine. The case; sharp and nearly untouched. The bezel; teeth crisp as they ever were and the insert showing only minor, insignificant wear aside from a small nick near the lume pip. The dial markers are full and free of significant lume rot. The handset free of any tarnishing and the lume in itself also free of any damage. The red pip in the seconds hand is vibrant as ever. Crown operates as it should and caseback engravings defined and legible.

This is a wonderful opportunity to own a renowned watch that is well established in Seiko’s history books and a piece revered by dive watch enthusiasts. The watch was serviced in November 2020 and during it’s time in service had a NOS crystal installed.
